New Music: videotapes. – streetlights

Videotapes are an alternative rock band based in London who I’ve featured once before on this blog in October last year. Now they’re back with another single release, and more evidence of why they’re ones to watch. It’s called streetlights.

Streetlights explores the non-stop nature of modern city life, and is inspired by the Somerset House exhibition “24/7”. Lyrically it delves deep into themes of depression, monotony and the feeling of being stuck in a dead end. Musically it’s vibrant and emotional rock, akin to what you might get from At The Drive-In or Mogwai.

The track is the perfect tonic for those who might be struggling through the long post-Christmas hangover that is January. You can give it a listen below.
