Todd Morse is a musician with his hands in many pies – not only does he perform his own music, but he’s also a member of The Offspring! I’m a fan of The Offspring, but I also enjoyed Todd’s track, Screaming Babies, when I heard it, as it’s a little more ska-influenced. Make sure you check out the stream at the end of this interview if you like what you read!

How was your 2022?
Fantastic! Live music is finally back in full swing and I was lucky enough to tour Japan, Canada and Australia.
You recently released a solo single titled Screaming Babies. What can you tell us about the track?
I based it off a few chords and a realisation I had as a father and an avid traveller. Where the crying babies used to bother me now, it’s more the whining adults that ruin the fun.
How has the reception to Screaming Babies been so far, and where can the song be purchased?
You can get it on iTunes and it will also be available on CD when my EP Time Stopper comes out in March. The reception has been pretty good. I’m always happy to see anyone listening to my tunes.
Do you plan to release any more singles in the near future?
Yes, when my EP comes out in March I’ll have a new single out called Not My Armageddon.
You’re also a member of The Offspring now! How are you finding it? Any news on a new album?
I love it! I was on guitar for 12 years – now I’m on bass and it’s super fun. New music is in the works right now!
Your solo music has a pop-punk/ska sound. What/who influences you most as an artist? What have you been listening to recently?
Well The Clash and The Rolling Stones are big influences. Rancid too. I’ve been liking Wet Leg and Turnstile as far as new stuff goes.
You’ve also worked in a few other bands, such as H20, Operation M.D. and Juliette & the Licks. Do you have any other side projects on the go?
I know it seems like a lot. I’ve been trying to narrow it down to just Offspring and my solo stuff.
What do you think is the biggest challenge in the music business at the moment?
I think streaming can be really impersonal, so bands really have to tour and use social media to create a bond with fans that doesn’t feel fake or anonymous.
Do you have any tour dates lined up for the UK?
I’ll be coming to the U.K. in May with Offspring for Slam Dunk Festival.
Any last words for the fans?
Don’t give up on guitar based music!
