Mateo Briscoe is a Sacramento, USA-based singer songwriter who takes his cues from his “role model and spirit guide” Amy Winehouse. There’s a similar rawness and authenticity about his music as exemplified by his new single Insane.

Insane is an unapologetic exploration of Mateo’s mental health problems, and it’s refreshing to see the topic taken on with such boldness and humour. Musically, it’s stripped back blues rock anchored by Mateo’s characterful, Jake Bugg-esque vocals.
The track’s accompanying video is filmed in the saloon of the Georgetown Hotel, which is said to be haunted, and it very much leans into this spookiness. You can check it out below.
