London-based psychedelic rock, punk and jazz five piece Wednesday’s Child have just hit my radar courtesy of their first single release from their upcoming EP Seven Sisters. It’s called Theda.

The title of Theda refers to Theda Bara, a star of the silent movie era most remembered for her roles as a “vamp”, or a seductive woman. Wednesday’s Child’s approach to the story has a wonderful throwback feel to it, but there’s a certain element of forward-facing experimentation too. This is nostalgia remixed, and the characterful vocals are utterly captivating.

The Seven Sisters EP will consist of another six tracks all celebrating women. I look forward to hearing their stories.
