Alice Clayton is a singer songwriter from Hull, and now based in Leeds. Despite being local, she’s only just hit my radar thanks to her new single release Burden.
By Graeme Smith
Alice makes music that doesn’t shy away from the big topics of the day – politics, feminism, mental health and the state of society. It’s granted her comparisons with the likes of Self Esteem and Laura Marling but she certainly has a voice of her own, as evidenced in Burden. The track delves deep into the pain that comes from self-doubt and acts a letter to her younger self.
Alice has been writing and performing music for years and has been celebrated by BBC Radio 6’s Steve Lamacq. She has a new EP on the way and you can check out Burden below.
