Discovery: Slightest Clue

Slightest Clue are a Vancouver, Canada-based rock four-piece who have just hit my radar through their new track Just Fine. Interestingly, though, Just Fine marks a bit of a departure from the band’s usual sound, as this one was written by bassist Hannah Kruse, who fronts the band for the first time.

By Graeme Smith

Hannah wrote the track in lockdown at the point where the isolation was making her miss her social life the most. The longing is palpable from the off, with layers of guitar slowing building into an urgent first verse. The vocals feel confessional, yet there’s a confidence in them too, particularly during a catchy chorus.

Alongside Hannah, Slightest Clue features Malcolm McLaren, Sean Ries and Nick Sciarretta. Collectively they are influenced by legendary acts like Talking Heads, Bill Withers and Björk. If that sounds like your kind of thing, be sure to check out Just Fine below.
