New Music: Agon Branza – Elevate

Agon Branza is a London-based dream pop artist whose unique and experimental sound has caught my attention. His latest single is called Elevate Me, and was improvised in a single take with a vocoder.

The improvisational style gives Elevate Me an immediate sense of rawness. The emotion comes through strongly and unambiguously, a cry for something better in a dark world. Agon is queer, and discrimination and hate is unfortunately a big part of his world. This track envisions somewhere more peaceful.

The track will feature on Agon’s upcoming debut EP which dwells more broadly on the theme of discrimination and apathy towards it. For the EP, Agon worked with The XX and Radiohead composer Paul Frith and Trans Voices, the UK’s first professional trans choir. It sounds like it’s going to be special.
