SEAN DICKSON, ROSS SINCLAIR, SUSHIL K DADE and JIM McCULLOCH are returning to play their back to basics effervescent guitar pop on an Autumn 6 date UK Tour.
The band served huge success with the massive Worldwide hit and indie anthem I’m Free and with MTV award nominations and Top 20 hit records especially in USA under their belts they rocked many a live stage for years.
The Soup Dragons were leading lights in the so-called C-86 Music Scene – named after an NME produced cassette compilation of bands that were all coming through at the same time.It was a musical hotch-potch of different styles and genres but for the band it was an ideal springboard to get their irresistibly melodic punky pop music out into the mainstream.
“We were all teenagers at the time!”, recalls lead singer Sean Dickson, “we hit the ground running and basically made it up as we went along…we didn’t follow the rules then and we still don’t.”
“We’re aiming to capture the energy and sound of those early records” states guitarist Jim McCulloch “and to do what we did best-playing live and loud!”
The band perform at the Brudenell Social Club in Leeds on October 29th.
