Amen Sioux is a London-based indie pop act who has just caught my attention thanks to his latest track and video. An edgy and anthemic number, it’s called Useless.
By Graeme Smith
Useless is a song that’s instantly gripping, consistently catchy and wonderfully constructed. It’s pop, no doubt, but there’s a wonderfully complex soundscape within it, with licks of rock, dance and R&B rubbing shoulders with each other like an eclectic party. All the while, the laidback vocals give it a fantastically sultry quality, one that’s backed up by its visceral video.
The track is Amen Sioux’s fourth release, and it also teases his upcoming debut EP. I strongly suspect there’s a lot more exciting music to come from him.
