Vancouver, Canada-based alternative rock pop artist Tess Anderson has featured on our blog before, but not since the Summer of 2021. I’m pleased to welcome her back thanks to her latest track Prison.

Prison is a song for life’s people-pleasers. Tess wrote it to help release her from her inauthentic life and be free to express herself fully. Reflecting this change in attitude is a change in style for her. The track straddles singer-songwriter and alternative rock sensibilities to create something that feels wonderfully accessible, and brightly upbeat.

Interestingly, the track started life as a slow ballad but it was through collaboration with her guitarist Dylan Lammie and bassist, engineer and producer Jeremiah Gowen that it arrived at its final form. You can check out Prison’s lyric video below.
