Vancouver, Canada-based pop singer songwriter Spence Paull first appeared on these pages at the start of last year thanks to her track When I’m Lonely. Jane was so taken with her sound, she even posed her a few questions in an interview. Now I’m pleased to her have her back with her new one, Bergamo.
By Graeme Smith
Bergamo is a story of falling in love and taking risks. It was inspired by Spence’s true story of flying from Canada to Italy to meet a woman she’d never met but had been chatting to for six months. It’s clear that the track is based on lived experience. The lyrics are rich and the emotion authentic throughout its lively and theatrical three and half minutes.
It’s a wonderful return to this blog for Spence. Her debut EP, Dear Mistress, is set for release this year. I can’t wait to hear it!
