Canadian pop singer JASMINE IS combines a few different pop sub-genres into her music, including old school pop, r&b, modern pop and even a hint of disco! Love of Money is a fabulous track that shows just how fantastic her songwriting is – it’s a catchy tune, but it also has a good message behind it. Find out more about the song here!

You released a single titled Love of Money. What can you tell us about the track?
This is a song about the danger and the futility of letting money be the foundation of our happiness. To use an analogy, it’s like building a house on sand – not stable and ultimately unsustainable.
How has the reception to Love of Money been so far, and where can the song be purchased?
So far so good. I am just starting out and I’m delighted by the wonderful reviews, playlist additions and the opportunity to answer some questions. Thank you York Calling! All my music is available on all the music apps.
Do you plan to release any more singles in the near future?
Yes! The next single is called Passion and will coincide with the release of my debut album HEAR on May 19th.
What can you tell us about the album?
HEAR is a collection of ideas inspired by personal experiences and observations over time. Musically, my inspirations are quite eclectic, and that is definitely reflected in the songs. I liken them to different rooms in your house: some create a space for reflection whilst others demand a pounding on the treadmill!
What was the writing and recording process like?
It was all done remotely via messaging, sending files backwards and forwards with my incredibly talented collaborator and producer Philip Larsen. I would send an idea, melody, lyrics, verse/chorus or a reference for the direction I wanted the song to go in and Philip would do his magic, nailing it every single time! It’s amazing how music can be created no matter the distance, as I much prefer and enjoy writing and recording at home.
Your music has a dance pop sound. What/who influences you most as an artist? What have you been listening to recently?
My influences are very varied, everything from Debussy to disco. I’m currently listening to the wonderful Freya Ridings and Mica Millar. I also love anything by JB Dunckel, John Morales, Alan Braxe, The Shapeshifters and Satin Jackets.
Do you have anything else exciting coming up this year?
Yes, I’m currently recording my next album!
Where are you based? How is the local music scene faring at the moment?
At the moment, I’m in Canada and the local music scene is alive and kicking!
Do you have any tour dates lined up for the UK?
My focus is on writing and recording new music.
Any last words for the fans?
Personally, I really don’t like the term ‘fan’! I know it’s used universally, but to me, it creates a division and implies a hierarchy of some kind that I just can’t relate to. So, to everyone who takes the time to listen to my music, thank you!
