Nelleke is a Rotterdam, Netherlands-based indie folk singer songwriter who has just caught my attention thanks to her new, melancholic single send the rain.
By Graeme Smith
Send the rain takes the form of a conversation, lyrically exploring a confrontation with someone who has hurt the fictional protagonist. In this way, it feels relatable and vulnerable, and Nelleke definitely has a way with words. You’ll be feeling every sentiment as they unfold against an atmospheric and intimate acoustic arrangement that develops into something stormy as it reaches its climax.
The track will feature on her upcoming EP bird /on concrete, set for release in September. You can listen to send the rain below.
