We’ve not featured Irish singer songwriter Paula Ryan’s music on our blog before, but she regularly plays live here in York, particularly at The Black Swan Folk Club where last year we got some photos of her in action. Now I’m delighted to share her atmospheric new track Garryroe.
By Graeme Smith
Garryroe opens with playful percussion before Paula’s expressive vocals come in. The track is wonderfully storytelling, drawing on folk traditions but giving them a contemporary remaster. Perhaps most impressively, Paula performs everything you hear on the track, as she does on the entirety of her new album Turas Cumadóir.
Turas Cumadóir is out now in all the usual places. You can give Garryroe a listen below.
