New Music: Abby Dormer – Sylvia

New York City, USA-based singer songwriter Abby Dormer first hit my radar in March this year thanks to her delicate track Fig Tree. The track was the first single from her debut EP Apologue, on which her latest track Sylvia also features.

Sylvia opens Apologue on a uplifting and dramatic note. Channelling influences from her ’60s and ’70s heroes, there’s a touch of the classic about it. What stood out to me most about it, though, was its poetic and storytelling lyrics that swirl the romantic with the bittersweet.

Abby has been playing music since taking up the piano at the age of four. She now plays guitar, mandolin, and the Irish bouzouki. With a clear gift for music and a way with words, there’s something simply irresistible about her.

Apologue is out today, and available in all the usual places. You can listen to Sylvia below.
