Southend-on-Sea-based alternative rockers The Trusted have featured on this blog a couple of time before now. In September last year, Jane discovered them for us through their track Arkansas before following that up with a inclusion of their track Terrible Fight in her Monthly Favourites round up in January. Now it’s my turn to share their music, and their new track Doomsday.
By Graeme Smith
Doomsday has a suitably epic feel about it, with big riffs and a sense of the coming apocalypse. Written by lead singer Tom Cunningham, he intended it as a cry for help in a world with psychological pressures everywhere you look, including in our personal lives.
The Trusted is what you get when you combine the guitar rock approach of Elvis Costello and Bruce Springsteen with the pop sensibilities of the 1975 and The Killers. It’s a lethal mix.
Doomsday was recorded, produced and mixed by Rees Broomfield of SS2 Studios. You can give it a listen below.
