Russia-born Savva Rozanov, who performs as Synedoche Montauk, has featured a couple of times before on this blog. In April, I discovered him through his single KG, and followed that up with a review of his album Acume in May. Now he’s back on these pages thanks to his new track and video Brawl.

Brawl appears on Acume alongside KG, and I recall it being a highlight of the album. Delicate and mournful, it delves deep into Savva’s mindstate with isolated vocals and sparse instrumentals. The new video brings the song to life, depicting a lonesome birthday celebration with the camera unflinchingly fixed on Savva, who goes through the motions painstakingly slowly.
The video for Brawl was created by Nikita Nikiforov and was directed by Nikita and Savva. Executive producer is Alina Golubeva and it’s released via Random Drama. You can watch the video below.
