Toronto, Canada-based singer songwriter Chris Caulfield has featured once before on this blog. Early last year, he made an appearance in Jane’s Monthly Favourites round up. Now it’s my turn to run the rule over his music. His latest explores the concept of pain and addiction. It’s called Stockholm Syndrome.
By Graeme Smith
Stockholm Syndrome could be described as pop, but there’s something a little unconventional about it. The lyrics are wonderfully poetic and its instrumental arrangement is infused with a jazzy RnB style. Chris’s expressive vocals are the star of the show, emoting genuine pain and frustration, and its layered climax is a highlight.
The track will feature on Chris’s upcoming project Catharsis. Chris is one that I’ll definitely be keeping my eye on. You can give Stockholm Syndrome a listen below.
