Aunt Agatha are an art rock outfit from just down the road in Malton who have just come to my attention thanks to their debut single Roboman. Complete with a ghoulish video, it’s not for the faint-hearted.

Though this is their debut, Aunt Agatha have been gigging on the York scene before, so the name might be familiar. The brother duo of Thomas and Philip Jennings create a unique style of punk with plenty of boundary-pushing features. The mix of classic and modern elements in Roboman make it feel wonderfully timeless.

Its video tells a Frankenstein-like story that unfolds in the cellar of an undisclosed location. An album is on the horizon for Aunt Agatha. I can’t wait to hear it! It’s great to have this kind of creative inventiveness on our doorstep.
