Gemfaire is the musical project of former cosplay social media influencer Ami Inu. She’s just released her debut single, a dystopian hyperpop track about seeking comfort in all the wrong places. It’s called ChatGPT.

With ChatGPT, Gemfaire perfectly captures the ennui of the Internet generation. It opens with a bright and breezy guitar arrangement but the lyrics declare “up all night sexting with ChatGPT.” It’s a reaction to being unlucky in love, and a breakdown in communication. After the first verse, a discombobulating electronic arrangement kicks in. For a debut, it’s stunning.

Gemfaire is inspired by electronic and hyperpop pioneers like Dorian Electra, Caroline Polachek and Daft Punk, as well as the science fiction of Issac Asimov. If that’s your jam, then you’re going to be very excited about ChatGPT. You can give it a listen below.
