Discovery: Hubert Eddy

Hubert Eddy is a Redditch-based singer songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who has just caught my attention thanks to his new folk and blues single recorded in Wuhan, China. It’s called This Poison’s Not Enough.

By Graeme Smith

With This Poison’s Not Enough, Hubert takes on the tradition of Leonard Cohen, Joni Mitchell and Bob Dylan, but also there’s something of Nirvana’s MTV Unplugged session in the way it was recorded. The result is something warmly intimate and inviting, but with a touch of melancholia, particularly in Hubert’s pleading vocals and storytelling lyrics.

Hubert has been celebrated by BBC Introducing, and across Spotify. You can add us to his list of fans, and I hope you will be too. You can check out This Poison’s Not Enough below.
