New Music: Amii Dawes – What’s Life Supposed To Be

Northampton-based Amii Dawes has featured before on this blog as part of Jane’s Monthly Favourites round up in June this year. Now it’s my turn to share her music thanks to her first single release from her upcoming EP Days That End In Why. It’s called What’s Life Supposed To Be.

By Graeme Smith

Amii describes What’s Life Supposed To Be as a “summer anthem” and it’s certainly got a bright and lively vibe to it. A bluesy pop-rock arrangement sets the tone but lyrically its introspective. Though ultimately upbeat, there’s a depth to Amii’s storytelling which sets her apart from indie pop contemporaries. Her singalong chorus will see the track sit nicely on any summer playlist.

Amii and her band take their influences from the likes of Courtney Barnett, Wet Leg and The Beths, and they’ve previously supported Beans on Toast. If any of those are your jam, then you’re going to love what Amii is putting out. You can check out What’s Life Supposed To Be below.
