Leicester-based 9 o’clock Nasty are as prolific as they are punchy. Since we first discovered them last year, they’ve featured no less than twelve times on this blog, relentlessly bringing new experimental rock offerings our way. The latest adds yet another string to their eclectic bow. It’s a love song called Bird of Happiness.
By Graeme Smith
Yet, of course, it’s not a straightforward love song. Bird of Happiness fixes on the pain of love, particularly when it comes to the absence of a loved one. There’s a suitably romantic feel to its gentle indie rock arrangement. To our extra delight, the track is also a collaboration with another artist we love here at York Calling, Meg Cratty from the Margaret Hooligans.
Bird of Happiness will feature on 9 o’clock Nasty’s upcoming album Culture War 2023, set for release at the back end of this month. You can check out the single below.
