Raccoon Book Club is an indie punk rock project based just down the road from here in Thirsk. They’ve featured once before on the blog, in June this year, as part of Jane’s Monthly Favourites roundup. Now it’s my turn to run the rule over their music thanks to new track I’ll Never Know.
By Graeme Smith
Raccoon Book Club’s latest is a big, powerful folk punk track. There’s a sense of triumph about it, starting right from the off with its rousing instrumental arrangement. It’s an impressively rich sound given that all the instruments were played by one person, and the lyrics paint a mesmerizingly emotional story.
It’s always so exciting when I find a really great artist that’s also local and that’s exactly what we’ve got with Raccoon Book Club. I’ll Never Know was recorded at Eiger Studios, Leeds by Jack Byrne. You can give it a listen below.
