Manchester-based singer songwriter Untold River, real name Ciaran Egan, has featured a few times on this blog before. He first came to our attention at the end of last year thanks to his single Sleeping City Cowboy, which I described as timeless and vibrant. An addition to Jane’s Monthly Favourites round up followed, as well as an interview. Now he’s back on our pages with a new track perfect for the autumnal change in weather. It’s called November Coat.

Untold River’s latest has a lively and cantering tempo to it. Americana elements set the scene before Ciaran’s storytelling lyrics come in, set somewhere a little more British. They’re beautifully brought to life through smooth and soulful vocals, and as the track progresses, its instrumentals are dusted with electronic highlights. It’s an evolution of Untold River’s sound, and a good one.
