Gal Musette, real name Grace Freeman, first came to my attention way back in 2021. It was thanks to her video for her track Summertime that she hit my radar and I loved that bittersweet ode to summer. I’ve featured two more of her tracks since, Plateau in February this year and then Moment in July. Now she’s back with the title track to her album, which is also out today. It’s called Pendulum.

Grace has the knack of marrying classic ’50s and ’60s influences with modern day sensible. Together they create a truly unique sound that I find utterly captivating. Pendulum is a wonderfully dreamy track. It opens with isolated and vulnerable vocals accompanied by haunting harmonies before developing into a timeless folk pop arrangement with plenty of cinematic features. If Doris Day or Billie Holiday were around today, this would be the kind of music they’d be releasing.
The album Pendulum is out now in all the usual places and you can check out its title track below.
