New Music: Jack Keyes – Home

Jack Keyes is an experimental folk singer, songwriter from Louisville, USA. He first caught my attention in the summer of 2022 thanks to his second album release Dissolving in Dusk. Now he’s back with a new single. A nostalgic Baroque-folk track with nods to Sufjan Stevens. It’s called Home.

By Graeme Smith

There’s an instantly timeless feel to Home. It’s introspective yet has an understated fire in its instrumental arrangement. Jack’s vocals are certainly the highlight, expressively delivering confessional and melancholic lyrics. The track reaches an intriguing climax in its chorus. There really is no one else out there doing what Jack does.

Home features Ellie Ruth on viola, Fiona Palenski on drums, and Daniel Lobb on banjo. Lobb also provides guest vocals as do the members of Routine Caffeine. It was recorded with the help of Anne Gauthier at LaLaLand Studio in Louisville. You can give it a listen below.
