American singer songwriter Eleanor Hammond has featured on this blog a few times before, going back to 2021 when Jane discovered her music for us through her track Combustion. Shares of Anyone At All and Dream Chaser followed, and now it’s time for another new one from her. Dedicated to those secretly struggling with their mental health, it’s called Hidden Wounds.

Despite its weighty topic, Eleanor is keen to show all aspects of depression in her new track. I can say from experience that it’s not all dark and debilitating. There are high moments too, and Eleanor beautifully articulates this dichotomy through the track’s use of rise and fall. As ever, her vocals are utterly mesmerising, and her Kate Bush, Damien Rice and Fiona Apple influences shine through.
Based in Los Angeles, Eleanor has a background in theatre as well as pop, which means we always get a strong story and expressive performance from her.
