It’s been less than a week since I last featured Battery Operated Orchestra, but I’m enjoying their music enough I don’t mind sharing more of it. Their latest single features on Compulsory Games, the album of theirs I’ve just reviewed. In the context of the album, I enjoyed its delicate percussion and rich bass, but how does it hold up on its own?

Taken as a single, Unbecoming provides a groovy synthpop wonder. The percussion and bass are still starring but charismatic vocals also hold their own, and its dreamy chorus is a catchy highlight. Battery Operated Orchestra truly know how to pen a memorable riff, and create a sound that is beautifully unique.
Battery Operated Orchestra are Brigitte Rose and Chris Black, two artists based on the South coast of England and originally from Tasmania, Australia, and Scotland.
