New York City, USA-based singer songwriter Blair Wxtch has appeared on this blog a couple of times already this year. In September she made Jane’s Monthly Favourites round up. I then followed that up with a share of her track and video Light Me Up in October. Her latest tells a story of horror in order to process its trauma. It’s called Stuck in Midtown.
By Graeme Smith
In Stuck in Midtown, Blair Wxtch relates an autobiographical story of being sexually assaulted. It’s suitably heavy, opening with severe percussion and eerie chords. Blair’s expressive vocals powerfully capture the emotion of the lyrics. A track that takes its time, it unfolds over seven minutes, exploring the moment of violence and the difficult healing in its aftermath.
Stuck in Midtown was produced by Butterfly Haus and features guitar by Kid Koi. The track is out now via Glass Bullet Sound Company. You can check it out below.
