Mia van de loo is an American singer songwriter who has just caught my attention with her debut single. All about being infatuated with the wrong person, it’s called fairytale.

There’s something instantly distinctive and captivating about Mia’s sound. Her delicate vocals are accompanied simply by raw plucked strings in the first verse before some ethereal layers come in, creating a rich and slightly eerie soundscape. The vocals stay the focus throughout, however. I’ve really not heard much like her. Considering this is a debut, I’m very excited about what’s to come from her.
The track will feature on Mia’s debut EP open book which is set for release on 8 December, along with the music video for fairytale. Mia worked with producer and mixing engineer Laiko and mastering engineer Eric Lagg to create the single. You can give it a listen below.
