Ego is a pretty unique sounding track, opening with an eerie bassline that continues throughout most of the piece, as well as a gorgeous string section. The strings drop off as the beat appears, following the bassline perfectly. Natalia has a wonderful voice, using her sultry tones to create a unique atmosphere. I’m not normally a massive fan of modern vocal effects, but they’re used perfectly here, accentuating the lead vocals in a stunning way. It sounds pretty minimalist at first, but the songwriting on Ego is absolutely top notch!
