Tórshavn, Faroe Islands-based R&B and soul-pop artist Jasmine Mote, aka Jazzygold, has featured once before on this blog. Back in September, I ran the rule over her storytelling track lonely afterparties. Now she’s back with a new one that explores struggles with motivation. It’s called day off.
By Graeme Smith
Despite the darkness of its lyrics, day off is something of a laidback number. A sultry and intimate arrangement paints a picture of relaxation while Jasmine agonises over the lack of productivity. The dichotomy feels very relatable. We’re all guilty of wanting to chill out and get stuff done at the same time.
Day off is Jazzygold’s fourth single of the year and she’s quickly making an impression. Being celebrated across Northern Europe, it’s surely only a matter of time before the rest of the world catches on.
You can listen to day off below.
