Video: Songs For Sabotage – Fortress

Los Angeles, USA-based duo Songs For Sabotage have been featuring on these pages since 2021, always enchanting us with their unique brand of alternative pop and rock. Their latest explores an extended metaphor for hiding away from the world. It’s called Fortress.

By Graeme Smith

Songs For Sabotage open their latest with some stripped back electronic notes before guitar and vocals come in. They tell the story of a loner or hermit, one who removes themself from society, and deprives the world of their light. In a style we’ve come to expect from the duo, the composition is a combination of brightness and dark, with plenty of shades of grey in between.

Fortress is the second single to be released from Songs For Sabotage’s upcoming second album Clean Trauma, set for release 28 February. The track was produced at the pair’s home studio in Eagle Rock, Los Angeles. You can check out its video, shot in Malibu with the help of band photographer Rick Perez, below.
