You recently released a new track called Letter To My Future Lover. What can you tell us about the song?
We love every piece of it, not least since it took us 9 years to finish. It’s a kind of melancholic feeling, it’s a song we’ve played at various venues over the years but also in various styles and moods. It has always been there with us but has, like us, changed a lot as the years have went by. And now it’s time to let it out there! But it finally felt like we actually had been able to create a product we were ready to show to the world.
How has the reception to the track been so far, and where can it be purchased?
It’s been great! At the moment it’s our most trending track and the comments we’ve got from people, about how the song makes them feel (adventurous, positive, loving and hopeful) make us very proud. It’s available on all streaming services, including, for example, Apple Music and Spotify.
Do you have any more singles planned for the near future?
We’re in the making of a few new ones actually, and we hope to put them out there for everyone to hear during 2024. No nine year wait!
Are there any plans to release an album or EP anytime soon?
We, without doubt, have material for it and we’ve talked about whether it would benefit us or not, stacking a bunch of tracks rather than releasing them on a regular basis. That’s what we’ve tried this year with our four new tracks, so we’ll see if we’ll switch it up by going for an EP or album.
You originally performed under the name Australian Sunrise. What prompted the name change?
We were just about to release our first album and suddenly all of us got the feeling that we wanted to re-brand ourselves. We had a new sound, we had reviewed and revised our goals and visions a bit and so it felt natural to also go with a new name.
Letter To My Future Lover mixes a few pop-rock genres together. What/who are you most influenced by when making this song? What have you been listening to recently?
Like I mentioned, it took us nine years to finish this song. Not because we didn’t like it, but because we noticed how much better it got every time we played it while discovering new ways of lifting the song. So we guess we wanted to push it and see how good it could become.
Over these nine years we’ve had a bunch of different inspirational sources which have contributed to the song, but the main theme has always been a ‘west coast/college rock’ sound.
However, bands which actually have contributed with inspiration are Ingram Hill, Parachute, The 1975 and Picture this.
You’re from Sweden. What is the local music scene like with you?
Venues where we can reach a diverse crowd with different musical preferences and who are open to listen to and take in original music. There are those who fight really hard in order to make this kind of music scene prosper in Sweden, but unfortunately, that music culture ain’t very strong here. It’s all about “allsång” (sing-along).
Do you have anything else exciting coming up over the next few months?
The bookings have started for next year and we’re continuing working on our upcoming songs. Apart from that, we’re also just trying to take in and reflect upon everything we’ve achieved and done this past year with our latest tracks and so forth.
Do you have any tour dates lined up for the UK?
No official dates yet, but we’re crossing fingers for that it will be, because we’ve always had the idea of us as a band and our songs would hit harder abroad, such as in the UK, and it would be cool to experience if that’s true. Our statistics on for example streaming services indicate that at least.
Any last words for the fans?
Keep streaming and sharing our music! That’s the way for us to spread our message, be heard and hopefully come and play live at places where we should be playing!
