Ann Marie Nacchio is a Staten Island, USA-based song writer, pianist and bassist who first came to my attention in March last year through her EP release It’s been a day, a week, a month, a year. Another EP shortly followed and now she’s back with something a little different. Teaming up with Adam Tilzer, the pair have recorded their unique rendition of the Prince classic Nothing Compares 2 U.

Penned by Prince, the track was made famous by Sinead O’Connor’s emotional version and Ann Marie and Adam are paying tribute to both legends with this cover. Sung as a duet, they take on the perspective of ex-lovers, delivering a heartfelt story against a backdrop of electronic layers, akin to the music of LCD Soundsystem.

Nothing Compares 2 U was produced in Adam’s studio with both artists sharing the vocals and instrumentation. Mastering was done by Serge Espitia of Tiny Thunder Audio. You can give it a listen below.
