Moon Worm, the musical project of North Dakota, USA-based singer, songwriter and producer Jack Schaeffer, first appeared on this blog in October last year through his reflective track 9 / 10. Now I’m pleased to welcome him back with a new one that explores the difference between financial and spiritual riches. It’s called Not Poor Just Broke.

Some people never let a lack of money stop them, and it’s that indomitable spirit that Jack celebrates with Not Poor Just Broke. Full of brooding and soft indie rock, it slowly builds with looping guitar before arriving at a lush and emotional soundscape. Its celebration of hedonism is somewhat muted, perfectly reflecting its subject matter, especially in a cathartic and expansive chorus.

Moon Worm is the result of a individual who isn’t afraid to put his all into his music. I’m very encouraged by where he’s taking his sound.
