Aloysius Bell is the performing name of Montreal, Canada-based singer songwriter Annick Brémault. She’s just come to my attention thanks to the release of her new single, a cathartic tale about an argument with her partner, it’s called Wreckage.

Wreckage is an instantly relatable track for anyone who has found themselves getting temporarily petty with a loved one. With beautifully observed lyrics, the track unfolds gently with some timeless and soulful electronica that soothes the rough edges. The highlight is certainly Annick’s singing. Her voice is utterly mesmerising.
Annick’s debut EP as Aloyius Bell (a nod to the Brontë sisters’ male pseudonyms), Warm Thing, is set for release 2 February, produced with Driftnote and mixed by David Plowman. You can give the single Wreckage a listen below.
