We’ve been featuring the solo work of Brighton-based rock artist Hana Piranha since November last year, having previously discovered her as one part of Birdeatsbaby. Recently, I ran the rule over her fourth album Wingspan, and she’s just released the latest single from it. It’s called I Wanna Leave.

If you read our review of Wingspan, then I Wanna Leave will be familiar to you, with the track being one of the album’s opening gambits. Taken on its own, I’ve been forced to reassess just what a belter it is. There’s a raw, visceral energy to it, providing an anthem for those who have trouble fitting in to a world that’s often difficult to understand. Hana’s vocals are particularly characterful, and the riffs hit you hard. Perhaps its standout feature is its lyrics. They’re beautifully-observed.
