British Avant Garde artist Nobody’s Wolf Child has been featuring on this blog since the beginning of 2022, always bringing a fresh and unique approach to her music. Her latest is no exception and sets up a big year for her that will include new releases, festival appearances and a tour. It’s called LXXVII.
By Graeme Smith
LXXVII is a deep number that explores humanity’s conflict with itself, and what that means for the world in the future. Nobody’s Wolf Child’s music is always steeped in imagery and lore and in her latest we share the company of Wolf Comanche, one of the nine wolves that walk with the Wolf Child.
Musically, it’s cinematic but in an unconventional way, slowly building atmosphere through long, ponderous notes and a sense of impending peril. Rousing percussion adds texture before ethereal vocals come in. The arrangement takes on a tribal quality before we settle into a cantering rhythm that will have your heart racing.
The single release comes with a cover of Townes Van Zandt’s track Nothin’ and you can check out both songs below.
