Ersha Island are a Chinese-Kiwi sibling duo based in Auckland, New Zealand. They’ve just caught my attention through their R&B-pop track and video which sees them teaming up with Iris Zhang and Geoff Ong.

Like The Other Kids is a song about not fitting in, something the sisters know well from their time growing up as Asian kids in New Zealand. It’s some to which the track’s collaborators Iris and Geoff can relate too. Though it broaches a difficult topic, there’s a light-heartedness about it, especially when paired with a music video which invokes the spirit of childhood. Playground scenes roll beneath a soft and inviting R&B composition in which the range of soulful vocals fit perfectly.

The track features guitar from Sam Nakamura and was produced by EDY. Edward Liu was also involved in the production and did the mix.
