Manchester-based folk artist Untold River, real name Ciarán Egan, has appeared on this blog a few times before, going right back to the end of 2022.

Now he’s back on our pages with his third single release, Don’t. Inspired by the uncertainty created by the pandemic, it’s a piece of alternative country that brings together shades of light and dark. A gentle yet relentless rhythm section drives things along while delicate acoustic guitar provides a bright, memorable melody. The crowning feature is Ciarán’s vocals that soulfully ruminate on the modern world with poetic, image-rich lyrics.

Don’t is more evidence if we needed it that Untold River is an act on the rise. The single was produced by Jamie Platt and features drums from Adam Smith. It’s out now and you can check it out below.
