Pure xtc is an alternative pop artist who has just come to my attention through her first release of the year. The opening part of a trilogy of tracks, it’s called Fall Apart.

Though new to us, pure xtc has shared the stage with some big hitters of the American indie scene, including Rilo Kiley’s Jenny Lewis and Dashboard Confessional.
Her new single focuses on the human experience, acting as a way to vent during a time when she was struggling. There’s a suitable sense of longing about its instrumental arrangement, which is rich with electronic indie pop sensibilities. Melancholic yet expressive vocals are the focal point, giving us a stirring bite in a climactic chorus.
Each part of the trilogy will come with a short film, with the one for Fall Apart set to premiere on 20 March.
The track was mostly recorded in pure xtc’s home studio, with drums tracked live at Studio 14 in Baltimore, USA. It was co-produced by Bryan Czap, and executively produced and mixed by Walter Kazmier. Mastering was by Mike Piacentini at Sony Entertainment’s Battery Studio.
