I’ve had the opportunity to share music from the a fair few local artists recently, and here comes some more. Crumbs are a band based in Leeds who have drawn comparisons with the likes of Le Tigre and their city-mates English Teacher.

Their latest single You’re Just Jealous is a raucous affair with a powerful message. Opening with a captivating bassline, it hits a raw, jangly groove with chanting vocals. Lyrically it speaks of a need for understanding while musically it demands that you dance. It’s a unique and exciting sound that I only wish I’d discovered sooner.
Though new to us, Crumbs have been active on the northern scene for years. They recorded a Marc Riley session in 2016 and released their first album Mind Yr Manners the following year. They’ve played the Brudenell Social Club with Jeffrey Lewis and Swearin’. The band consist of Stuart on guitar, Gem on drums, Jamie on bass and backing vocals and Ruth on vocals.
Crumbs will be playing at The Crescent here in York on 17 May, and in Leeds at Wharf Chambers on 31 May.
You’re Just Jealous is the first single release from their upcoming album of the same name. You can give it a listen below.
