Blue Orchid Reaction are an indie rock band based just down the road from here in Leeds. They’ve just come to my attention through their new single, inspired by rock heavyweights like Led Zeppelin, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Elastica and The Who.

Under These Skies is, in many ways, a classic blues rock track. It opens with some big, swaggering riffs before passionate vocals come in. What sets it apart, though, is the pure energy that Blue Orchid Reaction bring to it and its incredible drum solo, which is certainly worth the wait.

Blue Orchid Reaction are Paul on guitar and vocals, Dom on bass and vocals, Matt on guitar and Alex on drums and vocals. As an act they’ve been playing in and around Leeds for five years, but recently had a change of line-up with Alex coming in on drums. Under These Skies was recorded with Embrace’s drummer Mike Heaton. You can check it out below.
