Civil War Ghost are a lo-fi post punk outfit based in Bristol who have just caught my attention through their latest single release. Overflowing with sarcastic nihilism, it’s called Just Tell Lies.

Anyone who is sick and tired of the shamelessness of politicians will find some catharsis from Just Tell Lies. Reading like a charlatan’s handbook, the track holds up a mirror to those who have had made a career out of untruths. It feels like a story that needs telling in an evermore divided world being shaped by multiple distorted narratives. Musically, we are treated to a stripped-back but fuzzy rock arrangement. It makes plenty of space for the chanting, passionate vocals.

Civil War Ghost was birthed by Oliver Cant and his sound is adjacent to the likes of Black Flag, and York Calling favourite 9 o’clock Nasty. They have an EP on its way on which Just Tell Lies will feature. You can give the single a listen below.
