Middlesborough-based singer songwriter Jay Moussa-Mann has been featuring on this blog since 2022, delighting us time and again with her thoughtful and emotional pop anthems.

We’re not the only ones to think so, too, and Jay’s music has featured on BBC 6 Music and BBC Tees Introducing, and she was a semi-finalist in the Road to Nashville International Song Contest.

Her latest very much wears its heart on its sleeve. Called Bad Breakup, it’s about exactly what you’d think. What’s surprising, though, is the rock twist Jay has given her sound through it. And as you peel back its layers, you realise there’s more at play than a simple breakup song. Its lyrics paint a vivid picture, and a memorable chorus is the highlight. A definite for fans of Taylor Swift.
