Half Lover sees Cate going in a much poppier direction than some of the other songs we’ve heard by her, as it’s the sort of track that could seriously bother the charts. It’s pretty darn catchy though – whilst the main chord sequence may sound a little simplistic at first, it really is a tremendous piece of work. The verses are rather mellow when compared to the full throttle choruses, as Cate ramps the tension up with her perfect vocals. Just try and listen to this without wanting to sing along!
