ELDR is a London-based experimental artist who has just come to my attention through the release of her striking new track and video, Deer Skin.

The woman behind ELDR is Marina Elderton, an award-winning film composer who has received funds from PRS Women Make Music and studied at the National Film & Television School. Her compositions have featured on the BBC, Sky Arts and Film4 to name a few.
Her work as ELDR pushes boundaries. Deer Skin is a unique piece that explores hard-hitting topics such as abuse and racial violence, driven by a percussive instrumental, and brought emotionally to life through Marina’s distinctive vocals. ELDR has previously garnered comparison to the likes of Bjork and Joanna Newsom, but the comparisons don’t feel exact, something we touch on in an interview, coming soon.
Deer Skin was produced by Knut Jonas Sellevold and features harp by Berlin-based artist Andy Aquarius. The single is out in all the usual places and you can check out its cinematic video, directed by Philip James Mcgoldrick and shot by DP Luciana Riso, below.
