Shoun Shoun are a Bristol-based rock act who have just come to my attention thanks to their latest track and video, We Woke The Monster.

If you’ve ever been in a bad relationship, We Woke The Monster is for you. It’s a no nonsense number that cuts right to wick of it, full of fighting spirit and a total lack of interest in genre conventions. It’s a track that simply won’t take it anymore, giving us staccato rhythms, layers of off-kilter noise and attitude-filled vocals.

Shoun Shoun are Annette Berlin on vocals and guitar, Boris Ming on violin, synth and vocals, Ole Rudd on bass and Jake Monro on drums. If you fancy catching them live, they’ll be in Yorkshire at Sheffield’s Sidney & Matilda on 6 July.
